Some frequently asked questions.

Simply import an image from your photo library into Halationify, and use the four sliders (Tone, Spread, Amount, Threshold) to dial in the halations. Afterwards, press the export button (the one with the little arrow on the top right) and the image will be saved to your photo library.

Tone: When shooting on physical film, halation effects can appear in various colors, not just red. The Tone slider allows you to control the color of the effect.
Spread: The Spread slider determines how far the effect extends from its source. Increasing the slider value causes the halations to spread farther outward from any bright areas in the image.
Amount: The Amount slider controls the intensity of the halation effect. Higher values result in more pronounced halations.
Threshold: The Threshold slider determines the brightness level at which halations begin to appear. Lower values cause halations to appear in darker areas of the image, while higher values restrict the effect to brighter areas.

To get the best results, edit the image to a film-like look and adding grain. Also remember that the look is most pronounced in high contrast areas, where bright spots are right next to dark areas.

Polychrome is a very small team consisting of three developers who made Halationify in their spare time. Unfortunately, we currently do not have the time and resources to build and support an Android version as well. But, you can use the Halationify Web App on your Android device.
